Unhappy in your job, but not exactly sure where to go next? CareerBuilder wants to be your life coach.
The Chicago-based company just launched a new tool called "Explore Careers," which offers users a look at career data, salary ranges, demand for a job in different cities, and more.
“CareerBuilder is providing insights to help workers throughout their career journey, whether they’re just entering the workforce, assessing options for a career change or seeking better opportunities within their fields,” said Hope Gurion, chief product officer for CareerBuilder in a statement. “With Explore Careers, job seekers have instant access to multi-faceted, easy-to-use data they can turn into action.”
The tool allows users to search by job, and access in-depth career insights such as expected pay over time, employment trends in different geographical areas, and core and standout skills needed for a particular job (and how many employers are asking for them).
In addition, users can upload their resume, and CareerBuilder will assess their experience. The tool compares a users' resume and experience to the market demand for their desired job. They can also sign up for notifications if there are job openings or changes to any employment data the tools offers.
The tool is skewed toward business, tech, hospitality, and office-related jobs (notably "journalist" is not among the measured careers, though "bartender" is), so it may not be for everyone. But if you're looking for a little data-fueled free career advice, CareerBuilder just may have released a tool you can use.
